Friday night @ Patio Party Tracy Mathis
Tracy decided to attend the Patio Party relatively close to the deadline -- on Thursday. She's an attorney in St. Louis and seemed to be having a good time reconnecting with old friends. You can learn more about her at her Kewpie Connect profile.
Saturday @ Bengal's Mandana Hakimi
Did you know that there's a chance to meet & greet at Bengal's at 227 S. 6th Street on Saturday afternoon from Noon until 3pm. Classmate Julie Parman Rader runs this Columbia hotspot -- and it's air-conditioned.
See you there Mandana!

Regrets Kathy Boland Van Winkle
Her veterinarian practice makes it difficult to attend the reunion. She has more information about her life on her Kewpies Connect profile.
Friday Night Nancy Fields Palmer
We'll see her Friday night at Boone Tavern. She works at the University of Missouri medical center and may be busy on Saturday. See more of her profile.
Regrets Bill Bickley
Bill's daughter will be married the weekend of August 19-21 and so he's busted broke. He thinks hitch-hiking from Georgia might take too long.

Nathan surprised folks with his appearance on Boone Tavern's patio on Friday night. He is now traveling with is wife to spots all over the globe. He's working on his bucket list!
Rack 'n Roll Bill Jenkins
This classmate will be featured in the band at Friday's Patio Party. Unless he's getting back surgery.
We've always heard that music will fix what ails you. We hope this is the case and that Friday night we can hear him rack 'n rollin' like an Oldie!
Check out his profile in Kewpies Connect.

Regrets Cindi Lewis
This classmate is a lawyer and artist living in Alexandria VA. "Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to make it to the reunion due to other travel plans. I'm disappointed -- it looks like a number of people that I'd like to see will be there and it would be interesting to see what's become of everyone. I'm hoping that someone will fill me in on all the gossip." There is more information on her Kewpies Connect profile.

This Columbia resident's slightly edited rsvp gives us some perspective on reunions, sushi, family and lifestyles.
"Reunions are like eating sushi. From a distance it just seems like a bad idea. But once you're under way, it is not only tolerable but even enjoyable. Nevertheless, I will not be attending this years events, as I will be floating down the Eleven Points River with my family that weekend. Lest you think this implies that I've become some kind of carpe deum avid outdoorsman who does more before 6 a.m. than you do all day, I assure you that is not the case. I weigh 300 lbs and my hobbies are watching TV, eating, sleeping, and the internet. But that particular weekend I will be floating. There are a number of you that I truly love but I love my family more. Maybe next time."

Found Columbian ** Jimmy Cook
This Columbian registered right before the deadline last night. He was one of the missing and we still don't have a picture of him, but we're SO excited that he will be there Saturday night at the Reunion Banquet.
He didn't have a senior picture in the 1971 Cresset and so you can't recognize him, but you will find a black rectangle above Cindy (Cooper) Shaw and next to Craig Constant.

Making dollars and sense is this Kewpie's job for the city of Columbia. You may remember him from high school days but he's really made a name for himself in the years since. He is truly a public figure that is admired for his decades of service.

Tidal Wave ** Theresa Shields Parker
What do you call it when water piles up on itself, picking up momentum across hundred or thousands of miles and comes crashing onto land sweeping away everything in its path?
A tsunami. As a reality, it is horrific as witnessed in Japan, recently. As a metaphor, it is descriptive of the response to this, our 40th Reunion. Thank you! It is the momentum you create, piling up on itself that becomes something greater. To recognize the sparkle contained within this single drop look in the "S's."

Our recollection is that not many Kewpies could grow sideburns and even fewer could pull off the look. This Kewpie has been a dude since third grade in his Cub Scouts pack.
When asked who he wants to see at the reunion, his response was, "N/A." Dude.

She's planning her drive across Oklahoma to the reunion to coincide with the cooler temperatures of the middle of the night when it gets down to 90-95 degrees. This IT-pottery-music wizard is back in Columbia visiting family during the reunion. But we're not sure what she wants to see: "The Pinnacles..."

She know something? Debbie Cunningham Perkinsnss
This Columbia resident says she "...can't wait to see everyone."
Three questions: 1) is there room enough for "everyone" at Boone Tavern? and 2) how does she know that everyone is coming? The deadline for registrations is still tomorrow (11:59pm on August 10) and that would require another 300+ to register in little over 24 hours. And 3) wouldn't that be something to see?!

"Thanks for all your efforts related to our 1971 Reunion Weekend! What an exciting weekend you have planned.
I was hoping I could at least stop by the Friday evening event at Boone Tavern before I left town. Looks like that will be possible so am looking forward to it. Do I still need to register since it is a stop-by/cash event? When I looked at the registration form it looked like that was for the paid events. Thanks for clarifying this situation."
No problem! There are a few no-reservation events during the reunion which is not an accident. We want everyone to participate in the 1971 Hickman Reunion. Drop by the Boone Tavern on Friday night, August 26 after 5pm. The place will be rockin'. And thanks for the RSVP. Knowing that you'll be there only makes that evening a little bit sweeter! Come to the Ice Cream Social on Saturday, too.
For clue about the name of this Kewpie, check the "M's."

More than anything, a 40th reunion gives you an opportunity to recognize how we are all connected, at least through one time and one place. This Raytown MO resident is "...looking forward to the Hickman tour, patio party, Sunday brunch and the banquet and seeing my classmates."

Eventually, it would be great to have a little cameo for each of our Kewpies. It will take some time. We've got a head-start on the task and one of those cameos can be found in Latest News. This Columbia resident has been collecting Kewpies for quite a time.

One remembers this Kewpie, often walking the halls with her cousin. Together they were a force of nature, full of energy and enthusiasm. Our suspicion is that she's the same way now based on her registration: banquet (check), Providence Bowl (check), tour of Hickman (check), and City Tour with pit stop at Mug's Up (check).

The Friday night Patio Party on August 26 may turn out to be the best and only opportunity for a sighting of many Columbia residents. Boone Tavern will begin rocking at 5:30pm and a little before 7pm, people will peel off to attend the Providence Bowl.
Take a moment and see if you can remember this Kewpie's name and then check your memory in the "M's." He may be at Boone Tavern, but he's definitely going to be at the game.

The little "ƒ" notation next to Mrs. means that this classmate will be attending the Providence Bowl football game. Free VIP seating will be set aside for 1971 Kewpies and it's expected that a few thousand folks will see the Hickman team crush Rock Bridge.
We hope that after such a glorious game, even more Kewpies will come back to the Boone Tavern to celebrate with their old classmates. When they do, they'll know this Kewpie's name because they found her name in the "P's."

Regrets Rick Hoft
This LA resident writes: "I'm sorry, but as the date of the reunion approaches, I realize that I won't be able to take enough time away from work to be able to attend. It would be wonderful to participate and have the opportunity to visit with many classmates, but I have too many family obligations and work activities the week before and after the reunion.
I don't have a facebook page. If you would like me to send someone some news about my life that would be available for all classmates to read, let me know and I'll write a few paragraphs about what's been happening in my life during the past decade or so." Watch for more content on his "Kewpies Connect" profile.

Regrets Ken Butler
It always looked like this classmate was either just waking up from a nap or about to burst into loud laughter. I'd be happy to eat a plate of pancakes with him anytime. Oh, by the way, he's a Katy TX resident.
The bad news is, he won't be able to join us this reunion. He says, "Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the 40 year reunion. However, I do appreciate the work you and the "Kewpie" committee have done. Takes a lot of dedication and diligence to accumulate the data and information your guys have collected. Give a strawberry shortcake, gooseberry pie yell for me and hope to see you at the 50 year reunion." We'll hold him to it.

Jeff Jr Maxine Taylor Nelson
This Columbia resident works at Jeff Jr and plays an important role in the community by keeping track of students and, apparently, their parents. She has been enormously helpful encouraging fellow Kewpies to come to this year's reunion, many of them living out of town. She especially wants to see "Pam Tilford, Deborah Maxwell, Aurita Prince, Glenn Cooper, Sterling Holt, and Karettia Dixon (all class members)."

He and his wife will be driving up from Bardwell KY to see how many people show up on Friday night on the Boone Tavern patio. He might want to show up early to find a good seat. We're expecting a few hundred classmates.
That's the great thing about this reunion -- many ways to hang with your best friends, see a lot of folks, and see Columbia. Remember this man? You'll find him in the "L's."

Auburn AL *ƒƒß April Stella MacDonald
This Auburn AL resident is a member of the Auburn University music faculty. She'll be jetting in for the reunion even though her teaching schedule will have already started. She just wanted to see a few people who don't get together very often: "Maiden names: Nancy Poehlmann, Margaret Jones, Cathy Wood, Sally McCrory, Claire McCaskill, Pat Schneider. Guys: Randall Davidson, Marty Loring, David Chapman." Remember her name by checking the "S's."
Regrets Craig St. John
This Norman OK resident sends his regrets.
"Sorry, but I won't be attending the reunion this year. I almost certainly will be in Columbia between Christmas and New Year's to see my mother. I hope to look up Bill Wade and others then. I am happy to share my email address with other. For now, I am chair of the Sociology Department at the University of Oklahoma, still married to Gayle (Mullen) St. John, and have two kids in college. Since the last reunion I have recorded two holes-in-one."
Like many of our classmates who teach at the college level, August reunions are problematic. Maybe when we're 67 or 68, we'll want to hold our reunion in October! If you can remember his name (look in the "S's"), you'll be able to greet him during this Holiday season in Columbia.

Forever Young ƒƒ George Gibson
Not sure why Bob Dylan's song is ringing in the ears of your editor as he reads the news that this Columbia resident is coming to the reunion. Maybe it's the tone of his wish list: "Looking forward to seeing Coy (Langreder) McWaters and his wife, Glenna. I am also looking forward to reconnecting with friends from 1971, too many to list. I am back in Columbia, so it's the people from Hickman that is drawing me to this event." We want to see him, too. For a reminder of his name, check the "G's."
Sanford FL *ƒƒ Mike Madole
August in Columbia. Is there be any better time to experience the temperate environment of central Missouri? This Kewpie believes that central Florida provides an even cooler climate. It has been running 5-10 degrees chillier in Sanford FL than Columbia MO this season.

The word "mnemonic" might be the word of the first day of our reunion on Friday, August 26. It means "assisting or intended to assist memory." Remembering names may be a challenge -- especially when you add 40 years to someone's appearance. Would you have an easier time recalling this Columbia resident's name if you were to think of the famous British theater director, Sir Tyrone?

This classmate is, once again, evidence that there is something magnetic about St. Charles MO for Kewpies. He will be at the Saturday banquet. Prime your memory banks now so that you don't call him "Doug" or "Bill" or "Gene." For a primer, find his name in the "H's."
Warrensburg MO *ħH Margaret Jones Shull
She works at Central Missouri State in Warrensburg MO where she directs the McNair Scholars program, among other duties. Her violin playing reflects her approach to everything else she does: artful, clear, passionate, excellent.
It will be a pleasure to spend time with her at the reunion. Especially, if you remind yourself of her name. It would be a bummer to call her Warrensburg.

Why is the male in a marriage never the "better half?" The obvious answer is that he's the male half. And as a male, he's smart enough to agree to that assessment.

"I am looking forward to seeing any one I used to know and meeting others I didn't know in school. I attended the reunion 5 years ago but missed Sheryl Nienaber Blackburn and now I have lost her number. I haven't seen Claire since the summer after graduation so I would love to check on her and her family. Some old boyfriends are attending so I can't wait to catch up on the last 40 years. Tookie, you had better be there Friday or I will come looking for you. I "need" to eat a veggie sub from The Sub Shop if it is still open and of course a bite of a cheese frenchee. I hope to spend time with my nieces on Friday. See you soon!" She is to be found among the "E-F-Gs."

A shy species, this bipod has been coaxed into attending the reunion by his correspondingly extroverted mate. He may adapt to the environment of a reunion banquet by receding into the protected corners of grazing areas. Look for him there. His mate, although not a 1971 graduate, is just as much a Kewpie and will be found socializing in small social groupings throughout the evening.

Why now? What for? ** Carolyn Jones Adolph
There was a wonderful statement from Vanessa H. on our shared facebook just a few moments ago that may best explain why this St. Charles MO resident or any Kewpie is drawn to a reunion:
"[A high school reunion] is not about high school. It's about the diversity of experience that all grew from a formative time in our lives. We have, I think, reached a time in our lives when making new memories brings a sort of joy-contentment-pleasure that very few if any of us understood 40 years ago. That and it's better to be sorry for doing something than for not doing something you really did want to do." You'll see this Kewpie at the runion. Remember her name by looking between Jolly and Jones.

First 1972 Kewpie Sarah Grim
We've said we wanted folks who experienced Hickman in 1971 to be part of our reunion. We meant it.
But this Kewpie is the first one to actually RSVP. We're jumping up and down. What does she want to see during the reunion? "Road trip tour to see Kewpie homes where they lived during their years at Hickman! Not go inside (whew!), but just to remember who lived where!"
You'll have to guess her name. She's not in the '71 Cresset!

Sedalia MO * Blake Calvin
This Sedalia resident will be at the reunion and most likely at Boone Tavern on Friday night. Sounds like things will be pretty crowded that night so best come early and find a good seat close enough to the stage to hear and see the music and far enough away so you can hear what's being said by this person sitting next to you.

Déja vu ** Barbara Aufranc Street
"I am excited just to have the opportunity to visit with all the classmates who are able to make it to this reunion. While I LOVE football, I will probably kick back and listen to the alumni music - time for deja vu. Thought I would live and die in Columbia, Missouri but having been away for 14 years makes it all the more exciting to find out that "yes, you can come home again." Find a clue about this Kewpie now living in Pensacola FL.
On the Committee ** Debbie Sheets Russell
"Living in Columbia, I see most of the sights all the time! I am planning on doing the Hickman tour though, since last kid graduated in '96 haven't really been in the school since. As far as people I would like to see, being on the "committee", I've gotten to see people I haven't seen in years....so just seeing local people is a treat for me! Having this website maybe will help us keep more connected in the years to come."
Drop in ** Daniel Patterson
"I'd like to catch up with EVERYBODY! But seriously, just my friends, but I'm not sure I had many. They say we change with age but I haven't changed a bit, well, maybe a little as my hair is gray, I wear hearing aids, I have a back brace and people say I'm really funny! There is one thing I haven't done. I haven't graduated from high school. I left the first week of our senior year but everybody swears I was there (see the friend comment earlier,) Don't have G.E.D. either. Just another high-school dropout that Elliot Battle fought to prevent. So, since I didn't graduate in '71, I guess you won't mind me bringing my wife who didn't graduate in '71 either." Your editor counts this Kansas City resident as a brother. When he and his wife decided to come to the reunion, there was no doubt that this reunion was going to be special.

Always Room for... ** Donna Ausburn Price
She used to play cello in high school. Now, she lives in Blue Springs MO and we wonder if she still plays music. Now that the two sons are grown and the husband has retired does she have more time?
She says that her "one thing" was to go "visiting with numerous classmates. Kirk and I plan to go to the Patio Party, the Hickman tour, and the Banquet." And like every other well-trained cellist, she politely adds, "Thanks Hope (French) Burkart and the Reunion Committee for all your work!"

How many of us felt that she was like a sister when we were in high school? She was the good sport who wore the huge papier maché Kewpie head at football and basketball games. She was a force of nature with physical and intellectual energy to spare.
Now she is another kind of sister in a spiritual community in east central Missouri. She'll be at the reunion attending the Hickman tour. She'll be on the bus tour of Columbia. She'll be at the banquet on Saturday night. Do you remember who she is?

Luggage **ƒƒHH Steve Rodgers
What's the business with the gold and purple letters on the RSVP page?
Your humble editor has had one motivation taking on the "reunion website" as a grand volunteer effort this year. He went to the 35th Reunion and looked around and saw very few of his out-of-town classmates in the room. Certainly, it was wonderful to see everyone who was there, but then there were MIA classmates like this Northglenn CO resident. We weren't close, but he always was quirky and funny and a real smart-aleck. His humor was always somehow mumbled just below the teacher's hearing range. In his RSVP, he claims: "I would really like to see the whole gang and catch up with everybody. Love ya more than luggage." Why is this funny? Made me laugh.

I would love to have a paper invitation to keep, though. I am so enjoying remembering and getting caught up with classmates on the web site! A huge "thank you" to Randall (I knew him when he was "Randy"...) and eveyone else who has given so much time and effort to planning the reunion and locating missing Kewpies from our class. See, Seen, Soon ** Tom See
This Kewpie has been a verb his entire life. He accomplished great things in his new hometown, St. Louis. He will be attending the reunion. The high-water mark of his performing career came singing the baritone part in a performance of "Lemon Tree, Very Pretty" at a Jeff Junior Talent Night. Unfortunately, it's all been down-hill from there.
He says that he "will come to Boone Tavern on Friday and to dinner on Saturday with my wife -- we will not be attending any of the other events." Can you name this Kewpie?

Clues: No need to disguise him with costumes, wigs and make-up. This Kewpie stands out from the congregation for his accomplishments. He will be coming from the upper left-hand corner of the country -- not the furthest to come, but a fur piece, all the same.

Santa lives in Los Lunas, New Mexico Ed Chester
"Hello all, I do not know who knows me or not. I was the quiet fellow who stood up for the little fellows. Well I tried to be a protector. But I would be very interested to know how many folks remember me. This will be the first reunion I have been to since graduating in '71. I have been all over the world; seen almost everything. Only places I have not been is Alaska and Russia (besides not being to North and South Poles). I was Santa for the Ronald McDonald house and looked the part back in 2000. Now, I live in Los Lunas, New Mexico and I am quite content here. I found out that I do not just have one brother but have 6 brothers and 6 sisters. Quite a find. They live all over, lol. I'm wondering who really remembers me." Do you? You'll have a chance to make a new friend at the reunion.
King of Sadie Hawkins **ƒƒ Wayne Smith
You really need to know your 1971 Kewpie trivia to recall that this classmate was elected the King of Sadie Hawkins. You get extra credit if you can name the two 1971 Princes.
You can talk to the King because he and his wife will be coming up from Dallas for the reunion.

B.S.-ing Joe Falco

Hope Cake *ß Jane Fox Smith
This St. Charles MO resident is very clear about the one person she wants to spend time with during the reunion: "Hope French."
That kind of clarity means that this Kewpie will get her wish since Hope has already RSVP'd and paid for her registration (see below). If you remember our classmate's name you can be the icing on her Hope cake.

Mountain climber * Charly Oliver
"Catch up with old friends" is the one thing that this Kewpie wants to do when he's at the reunion. He's living in Boulder now and is known to climb mountains the hard way: straight up.
He's joining a long list of out-of-townies that are planning on attending the reunion this time. 40 years is a long time and it's time to "catch up with old friends."

Texas Ranger **ƒƒƒßß Diane Marsh Ivy
Texas has been like a magnet for many of our classmates. So far, we count 27 who have transformed from Show-Me-Staters into Texas Rangers. This out-of-townie plans on attending the reunion to "...visit with friends that I haven't seen in a long time. I still come to Columbia a couple times a year because my Mom still lives there."
Though Texas is a big draw, we're happy to know the mom and reunion magnets still have a strong attraction.

Native son returns **Rob Bartel
This Kewpie moved to Portland OR where he lived for a few decades and then came back to Columbia a few years ago. He develops software and telecommutes and is an immense presence behind the scenes of our reunion plans.
He'll be at the reunion but you won't find him in front of a microphone or standing in a pool of light. He'll be the one in the back of the room making things just that little bit more perfect for the rest of us.

Notre Dame (Our Lady) *ħH Ruth Ann Baird Heberle
She has always had class. Now she works at a place that holds class. A place in Indiana. She'll be coming to the reunion and is looking forward to it. Her one thing? "Catch up with old friends! See how Columbia has changed in the past 40 years."
Do you remember her name? Do your own treasure hunt in Kewpies Connect.
What does that blue "B" mean? She'll be on the bus tour!

Appliances ** Don Helmreich
This Kewpie works in his own shop in downtown Columbia. He has been one of the early, vocal and enthusiastic classmates for our 40th Reunion. At work, he'll sell you a washer-drier combo or a mattress. He'll be one of the most gregarious persons at the reunion. Look for him!
Congregatin' ƒƒHH Vickie Snodgrass Nichols
She named one thing she wants to do at the reunion: "I will enjoy seeing everyone and hearing about their lives. I would like to visit anyplace there is a group of classmates since I have been around Columbia long enough to have seen most anything else in town."

Fireman * Lee Turner
For years, this Kewpie has been protecting people, pets and property by battling flames, fire and conflagrations. Now he's more savvy -- he's working with computers.
He has leant the new skills he's learned to help us find and communicate with Kewpies. Thank you, "Robert E."

John Wayne Tim Timmerman
Like John Wayne, he speaks slowly and with great authority. The one thing he wants to see at the reunion: "Everyone."
He lives in Columbia and has been seen in the donut shop. He usually wears a uniform and carries a side-arm. Do you know his name?

The Producer ** Mark Heisner
Whoever thinks its easy to put on a show, a party, a banquet, and dozens of other activities has never really done it. Keep in mind, our reunion's producer is doing all of this on a volunteer basis. He also plays the trombone.
Mrs. * Kristy Danner Leath

Don't turn on the lights *H Donnie Long
"This web site has been a nice little flash from the past. It has taken me back a very long way. Excuse me while I collect myself. Wow… 40 years, what a long strange trip it has been. This reunion sounds like the greatest party that could ever be Don't turn on the lights, cause I don't want to see. Ooops, sorry, there I went again. I have been living in the Dallas area for the past 30 something years and lost track of many of my old friends. I'm looking forward to touching base with them again. Registration has requested the following. 1. Thing I would like to do. A. Visit with as many people as possible. 2. Person I would like to see. A. Everyone 3. Place I would like to visit A. Anyplace that we can all congregate so that we can visit. Thanks to everyone for your efforts in pulling this together."
What everyone wants ** Becky Lindsey-Covington
"I just want to see old friends." She lives in Columbia and worked for many years in the Columbia Police Department.
The Bank **Bill Moyes
This Kewpie is also on the Reunion Planning Committee (RPC) and is responsible for receiving and keeping track of our registrations and donations.
He has taught math in the Columbia Public Schools for years and has been volunteering for our reunions every five years for as long as your editor can count. Two times, that I know of but I'm pretty certain he's been The Bank for decades. We all owe him much more than our thanks [Hint: our registrations].

Reunion enthusiast * Diane Maxwell
There are hours and hours spent preparing plans, gathering contact information, sending out invitations, asking and answering questions, and fielding ideas. It's (mostly) a thankless job.
This Kewpie may be one of the biggest enthusiasts for the reunion. If you don't recognize her in this picture, you won't have any problem in August when we get together. She looks as young as ever!!!!

Dog trainer ** Janet Sapp Meyer
Kewpies spend their spare time doing many out-of-the-ordinary things. This Kewpie will be attending the reunion so be sure to ask her about her dog training school. It is unique in Boone County. In this picture, she's training a cocker-poo how to play canasta -- a specialty!
Her motto when dealing with dogs: "Frequently pleasant. Usually on my lap. Always canasta."
Your editor is kidding.
"Always stare at the camera."

A bike and a buddy Bill Wade
This Columbia Kewpie is hoping to hang out with his Norman, OK buddy Craig St. John and do the bike tour with Mike Mountjoy.
We still haven't heard from Craig, but the bike tour will definitely be happening on Saturday, August 27 at 1.30pm. Best to reserve a bicycle now if you want to see newly bike-friendly Columbia; send an email to Mike Mountjoy. He'll help set you up with a set of wheels.

Fluoride ** Hope French Burkart
Clues: She has been an executive secretary at the Columbia Public Schools district offices for many years and secretly inserts mind control messages into all of the school announcements made over the PA system. Her "one thing" wish: "Since I live locally (editor: Rocheport!), I would just like to see how many classmates live and work in Columbia."
Editor's note: You know I'm kidding about the secret messages, right? She gains mind control from the fluoride in the water.

Granted * Janice Newman
What would you like to see? "I would like to visit Grant School & see fellow classmates that attended Grant which is many!"
Who would you like to see? "Looking forward to reconnecting with several high school friends but mostly looking forward to getting to know the majority of folks I really didn't know in High School. Would love to see Maxine Taylor, Monica Ralph, Margaret Brownlee & Barbara Crum...too many to mention here! Can't wait to hear the Jolly Brothers & hopefully visit with Mr. Earl Coleman!"
To find her would be easy / If you knew her as Weezy.
Be careful not to blink / Between Newcomb and Nibbelink.

Barb and/or Karen Rick Pratt
Clues: Do you recognize this man?
You might know him from the old friends he wants to see at our 40th reunion: "I would like to see Barbara Rathert or Karen Mulder." If you live in Columbia, keep your eye out for him. He still has the sideburns and now counts himself as an "old friend."
You might see him at our 40th reunion ice cream social on Saturday at 3pm at "peace park" (McAlester Park) on the University of Missouri campus.

Beretta Girl * Jill King Baxter
She has not missed a reunion yet! Shooting sporting clays is her game. Or teaching a barbell class after work. She is Road Rider's cycling mate.
Chevies & Bikes **§ Mike Mountjoy
Clues: This Kewpie is one of the group of people putting together great plans for making our 40th Reunion the best ever. If you live in Columbia and drive a Chevie, you've probably see him at least once a year. He's the manager of the service department at a prominent auto dealership. But he's not just about cars.
He will lead the bike tour during our reunion gathering on Saturday, August 27. There are clues for his identity on the Reunion Registration page if you need help.

Reunion Veteran *ƒH Linda McCann
Clues: This Kewpie is a veteran of a number of reunions over the years and is looking forward to seeing her friends again. She got a start in her far-flung career in Boone County Hospital but now acts as a consultant to hospitals all over the country. If you've read any of the Kewpie profiles in "Latest News" on this website, you'll have many more clues for her identity. She is one of the tribe of Kewpies that live in Texas.
Mystery Man * Tim Neds
"Hello classmates, I'm really looking forward to seeing all those who have moved away and I have lost touch with. I hope to see some of my old 'buds' like Taylor & Steve. I sure miss my great friend, Jim. See you there on Friday and Saturday nights."
RSVP now.
Missouri Twin Donna Hiatt Wells
Clues: Even her cousins couldn't tell the difference between her and her sister. In fact, their two names were blended together into a four-syllable nickname. She lives in Boone County just like her sister. She's going to attend the reunion just like her sister. She is a member of that elite corp of Kewpies who have been sleuthing the contacts of fellow classmates since February 1. Even if you knew her, can you tell the difference between her from her twin sister?
B2B LOB @ COX Allen Roberts
"Enjoy catching up with everyone."
Editor's note: For Kewpies who have lived most of their adult lives outside the 573 area code, this reunion holds a little more significance than a drive downtown to share drinks with a couple buddies. It's a major check-in in a cordial setting. This Kewpie lives in Virginia now and works for Cox on LOB for B2B. Or something like that...

Beth Horner **HHßß Karen Granneman
The latest registration Names One Thing that has already been on the wish list for a lot of 1971 Kewpies: "I'd like to see Beth Horner."
"We return to Columbia regularly to see family still in the area, so we are less interested in tours and more interested in seeing classmates! Looking forward to seeing everyone who is able to attend."
Clue: You might know about this Kewpie's friendship with Beth but you might not know that she's the chief operating officer of a major university's on-campus club. One word: Spartan.

Nothin' 'Bout Biology ** Micki Nathe Schulze
Who should you invite to attend a high school reunion? First: ask all the graduates. Second: spouses and significant others are definitely invited -- we need them there to provide funny stories about our classmates. Third: Wouldn't it be nice to invite the teachers? This Kewpie nominates "Mr. Henderson, Advanced Biology Teacher." Do you remember her name?
The Dean Dave Chapman
Clues: Testament to the power of education, this former student is now Dean at a university that is everywhere. He may even be your Dean.
You knew him when he didn't like doing his homework. You knew him as a singer. He was a big evangelist during high school and went on to work with Christian youth groups, work at a school of business, run his own consulting firm, raise a family, coach hockey, and now...Dean. Remember him?

Dancing *ƒH Judy Bass
This Kewpie has re-entered what she is hoping to do: "I did this already - but think I said dance, dance and more dancing to our music of the day but love swing, blues, cajun, tango, old time dancing, too."
Editor's note: Where's a good place to Swing Dance in Columbia?

Dinner & A Date **ßß Jerry LaBrue
"Have a nice dinner with my classmates. - I would like to see Darrel Shelton / Coy Langreder. - I would like to visit Hickman High School to see how it has changed." This Kewpie has described the archetypal reunion: something to do, someone to see, somewhere to visit. Do you have to live outside of Columbia to want these things?
Editor's note: Got an idea. Friday or Saturday night would be good times for dinner, get Darrel and Coy to attend the reunion, and there's a Saturday morning tour of Hickman. We got you covered!

Gentleman and an Officer ** Bill Bond
Clues: He was the quarterback of the Cyclones while attending junior high school, he had the rugged good looks to be 007 except he was blond and didn't have the right accent, and he went on to become an officer and a gentleman defending our nation.
He'll be coming from the lower right-hand corner of the country to attend the reunion.

Golfer? * Nancy Hofbauer Hennarichs
Residents of Rogers, Arkansas might be forgiven if they assume this Kewpie loves golf. She lives on Titlest Lane.
Do you remember her? Maybe? You'll have the opportunity to get to know her better because she'll be attending the reunion.

Singing Lawyer ** Marty Loring
This Kansas City-area Kewpie was Cornelius Hackl and Harold Hill in two Hickman musical productions, but now he uses his commanding voice in court. He's back on the streets of Columbia visiting his mother at least twice a year.
He'll be coming to the reunion, too. But don't ask him to sing unless you're prepared to pay lawyer wages!

Illustrating a point ** Cindy Cooper Shaw
Clue: She was one of the new kids, which meant she wasn't born in Boone County. She hasn't lived in Boone County for many decades and now owns her own business and lives in a climate and in a state distant from mid-Missouri. But she was one of the first to indicate that she wanted to attend a reunion. Like the sparrows at Capistrano...naturalists will know the reference but flocks of classmates will be returning to Columbia in August.
Definition of a friend ** Barbara Powell Spencer
"I just want to socialize and see everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends again."
Editor's note: As Christopher Robin once said to his buddy, Pooh: "Promise me you'll always remember: you're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." Isn't that how it goes? Clue: where is a good place to stay while in Columbia?

Amendment: This Kewpie has now said: "I would like to see Micki Nathe, Linda Carter, Greg Daley, David Grimes, Paul Hinshaw, and a few others. Since I have never left Columbia, and have been in the construction business, I have had the opportunity to see Columbia grow and change. I do miss some of the old hangouts." "See if anyone has an old yearbook they would like to sell??? Those who still have them, bring them. Mine was destroyed in a flooded basement - boo hoo. I loved the year they had nametags with our h.s. graduation photo on them. Could we do that again???"
Editor's note: What a great idea. Should we create an instant slideshow of "senior" pictures to show on Saturday night, August 27? We could have a digital camera and a large video screen. Later, we could post the photos on our facebook page. The cost? $0 if we can borrow a free big video screen.

There is no question that this Kewpie loves him some golf! He wanted to live close to one of his passions. He bought a house on on Titlest Lane in Rogers, Arkansas. He married a classmate -- does she love golf as much as him?
You ask this question and more when you see him at the reunion.

I want to walk through West Blvd Grade School, West Jr High School and of course Hickman too. I hope each and everyone of you are able to attend. I want to go to the Hickman football game too. It is going to be a weekend full of fun, laughter and rekindling of friendships."
